Solar Panel Upgrade to High-Efficiency Models
Enhance yacht sustainability and cut generator hours with marine-grade, high-efficiency solar.
Upgrading to modern panels boosts onboard energy production—even in low light—so navigation, electronics, refrigeration, and HVAC run cleaner and quieter.
At yachtservice.me, we handle end-to-end delivery: system design, certified installation, electrical integration, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.
Key Benefits
More Energy per m²
  • Modern monocrystalline panels with high conversion rates produce more power on limited deck/roof area and deliver steadier output under clouds or partial shading.
Lower Running Costs
  • Reduce fuel burn, cut generator hours, and extend service intervals—less noise, less smell, less maintenance.
Cleaner Footprint
  • Zero direct emissions at anchor. Helps meet onboard sustainability targets and environmental best practices.
Higher System Resilience
  • Dedicated solar + smart charging stabilizes the DC bus, supports critical loads, and provides a silent backup during extended stays on the hook.
What We Install & Integrate
  • High-efficiency panels: rigid glass, walkable semi-flex, or custom curved layouts (hardtops, biminis, coach roofs).
  • MPPT charge controllers: optimized for marine environments, with proper cable sizing and fusing.
  • Inverters / inverter-chargers: seamless AC for galley/HAVC where suitable.
  • Battery bank integration: AGM, Gel, or LiFePO₄ with correct BMS, shunts, and protections.
  • Monitoring: helm MFD integration and mobile dashboards for live production, SOC, and history.
  • Marinized wiring & hardware: tinned copper cabling, waterproof glands, UV-stable conduits, anti-corrosion terminations, isolators, breakers.
Our Process
Energy Audit & Planning
We measure daily consumption, identify shading, and size your array and storage for real usage (anchor days vs. passages).
Component Selection
We source high-efficiency, marine-rated panels, MPPTs, mounts, and controllers matched to your yacht and cruising profile.
Professional Installation
Clean routing, drip loops, strain relief, bonding/grounding, watertight penetrations, and anti-corrosion protection throughout.
Software Setup & Commissioning
MPPT tuning, alarm thresholds, SOC calibration, and integration with bridge displays/monitoring apps.
Testing, Handover & Maintenance Plan
Load tests, acceptance report, crew training, and a tailored care schedule.

Common Problems We Solve
  • Underperforming legacy arrays due to low-efficiency modules, soiling, micro-cracks, or poor MPPT settings.
  • Generator dependency & fuel costs—we right-size solar to meaningfully cut run time.
  • Space/weight limits—we use lightweight, walkable, or custom-cut semi-flex panels.
  • Messy integrations—we re-wire for correct protections, cable gauges, and minimal loss.
Maintenance & Care
  • Rinse with fresh water; periodic gentle cleaning for salt/dust.
  • Visual checks for chafe, hotspots, and connector integrity.
  • Annual electrical inspection: insulation resistance, VOC/ISC spot checks, retorque of terminals.
  • Firmware updates for MPPT/monitoring where applicable.
FAQs
How much power can I expect?
Output depends on panel area, location, season, and shading. As a rule of thumb, a well-sited 1 kW array can produce ~3–5 kWh/day at Med summer anchor (clear skies), less under cloud or heavy shading.
Can I walk on the panels?
We can specify walkable semi-flex modules for suitable surfaces. Where not advisable, we plan service pathways and protection.
Will solar run my air-conditioning?
Solar can offset daytime loads and charge batteries; continuous HVAC typically needs hybrid solutions (larger storage, smart inverter-chargers, and occasional generator support). We’ll size the system to your comfort targets.
Is my current battery bank compatible?
Yes—AGM/Gel work well; LiFePO₄ offers better depth-of-discharge and cycle life with a proper BMS. We’ll integrate and set correct charge profiles.
What about warranty at sea?
We supply marine-grade components with manufacturer warranties and provide service support across the Adriatic and broader Med by arrangement.

Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) provide yacht operators with real-time tracking, performance monitoring, and compliance reporting. For commercial yachts, VMS is crucial for ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and safety. These systems use GPS, satellite communication, and onboard sensors to deliver critical insights into vessel location, engine performance, and environmental impact.
